Extant subspecies of Tiger
Amur (Siberian) - Currently about 250 breeding adults in the wild.
Bengal - Estimated to have about 2,500 individuals remaining in the wild.
Indo-Chinese - Estimated to have a total of 350 individuals in the wild.
Malayan - Approximately 500 wild individuals remaining.
South China - Believed to be functionally extinct. Currently 47 in captivity.
Sumatran - Between 400 and 500 individuals remaining in the wild.
Extinct subspecies:
Balinese - The last one killed in 1937.
Caspian - Last sighting in the 1970s.
Javan - Last seen in 1979.
